About

Biography

I received the prestigious SPR Fellow's Basic Research Award upon completing my pediatric nephrology fellowship. I pursued a career as a physician scientist and continued to investigate the mechanism of proteinuria-induced injury in proximal tubule cells following my fellowship. My laboratory demonstrated an important link between the endocytic adapter protein disabled-2 (Dab2), which binds to the cytoplasmic tail of the albumin receptor megalin, and protein kinase B (Akt). I received an NIH career development-KO8 award to support my studies elucidating the link between albumin endocytosis and cell signaling events.
